Our Mission
It is our mission to provide a space where adults, families, children and other non-profits can learn to deeply feel the inter-dependency of life, with all its variety of people and creatures. This would happen through their own unique experience within events at our retreat, learning and environmental programs. FGTC programs are shared through retreats, seminars, classes, conferences, partnerships, volunteering, internships, and mentorships.
The sanctuary itself is a living wonderland and, when combined with events which stimulate deeper awarenesses of life and how to live it, a living model is born, one which provides life skills beyond those learned to survive in a busy and hectic world. This model also includes opportunities for co-creation with people from all walks of life, creating unique partnerships which birth new and exciting ways to help people and the earth move into balance, generating new models for living for our own future and the future of generations to come.
A Living Model
When you combine land conservation and stewardship with personal growth and cultural expression, something truly wonderful emerges. This emergence is what we call For Generations to Come: A sanctuary for re-bonding us with the planet that gives us our life. This sanctuary is not just a place, not just a learning center, not just a creative cultural expression, but also a powerful presence, an atmosphere that results when place, learning, and expression are melded together.
We look at the world and its inhabitants and see that we are grappling with the ability to integrate on individual and cultural levels as well as within the worldwide community. We are trying; straining to comprehend how to bring our needs in alignment with the world around us. For Generations To Come is a living model of what happens when people embrace an integrated way of relating to ourselves, the Earth and society.
At a physical level, For Generations To Come is a conservation project of 145 acres of pristine nature preserve in Manchester, Michigan, located approximately 25 minutes west of Ann Arbor, Michigan. This model project preserves a way of life that includes a historical barn and buildings, farm and wild fields, thick forest, wetlands and a pond with a rustic cabin.
At a personal growth level, For Generations To Come is a sanctuary for learning how to explore who we are and how we can relate and serve in the world with clarity and deeper wisdom, training the body to resonate with all that surrounds it and deepening our feeling relationship with the Earth. It is a special place that supports discovering or deepening your authenticity, no matter what form it takes.
When one makes a personally-inspired connection with the environment, there naturally arises a new awe for existence itself, and an interest in making changes that enrich your life and the lives of others. Then, there is the opportunity to take these new attitudes, skills and energy back to ones own home, back yard, the natural environment, and workplace as well as the organizations and non-profits in which one is involved. For those who choose to partner with us, your sphere of influence may be focused locally, but it is accessed globally through FGTCs New Web Media and has the potential for touching people all over the world.
At a spiritual level, For Generations To Come is a place to inspire your inherent compassion for the people with whom you share this planet, and to spark a desire to serve that is at the core of each of us. When you leave the sanctuary, the learning from this model will emerge harmoniously into your daily life: from your own back yard, to the region where you live and on to our worldwide community.
Training that is offered will help you relate to your mind and emotions more fully and cultivate your meditation practices more consciously. For Generations To Come is a living model of people from all walks of life who embody what they teach by living peacefully and harmoniously with a loss of interest in conflict of any sort. Classes and program series are offered for adults, youth, elders, educators, and non-profits. |
